11.21.06: The show at Patricia Sweetow will actually be coming down earlier than the 16th since she'll be taking pieces with her to Florida for the Scope Miami Fair. My apologies if you missed out on the exhibit because of the shortened schedule!
11.10.06:

LA Commons, who I worked with through this project (also here and here), now has a website.

Also, Alan at ArtBusiness.com posted a few nice pics from the opening the other night. It's always interesting to see how people frame your work. Many thanks to everyone who came out to support.

10.28.06:

my first commercial gallery solo show:

Collapsed System Aftereffects ('til we get there)

Patricia Sweetow Gallery
49 Geary, 4th Floor
San Francisco, CA
October 31 - December 16, 2006
reception: Thursday, November 2, 5:30 - 7:30 pm

Also in the front of the gallery will be a solo show by Jane Harris.

10.14.06:

I'm in an upcoming exhibit but this time not showing visual work. Instead, I'll be wearing my other hat as an academic writer. An essay I wrote last year, "Pirates & Secret Agents on the Move: Flipping Questions of (Dis)loyalty in ‘Post-Asian’ Art Practice," will be available for perusing along with all the other writing and visual work in CCA's All-College Honors Exhibition at the Oliver Art Center on the Oakland campus from October 19-28. There'll be a reception from 5:30pm-7:30pm on October 25th.

9.17.06:

Update: the show at Patricia Sweetow has been pushed back a tad to the beggining of November.

John at Fecal Face was kind enough to interview me for the site.

The latest issue of Artweek has a review on the Peripheries of Narrative show by Amber Whiteside though I haven't gotten the chance to read it yet.

8.8.06:

Up next: Mid-October I'll be having a show at Patricia Sweetow Gallery. I'll post more details as everything is hashed out.

7.30.06:

Two upcoming shows:

Wednesday, the Bay Guardian is sponsoring their annual Best of the Bay party and recent CCA curatorial practice graduate Dina Pugh has curated their visual art component which will be comprised of work by CCA MFAs from the past few years:

Club Six/OnSix Gallery
Wednesday, August 2nd (one night event)
9pm - 2am
Presented by the San Francisco Bay Guardian

FUTURISTIC/FANTASTIC:
New work by students and alumni of California College of the Arts.
Curated by Dina Pugh, Co-Director/Curator of Triple Base Gallery

Featuring:
Matthew Hughes Boyko
Monica Canilao
Michele Carlson
John Chiara
Matt Gerring
Desiree Holman
Sean Horchy
Elise Irving
Travis Kerkela
Jay Nelson
Scott Oliver
Hilary Pecis
Dave Stein
Weston Teruya
Kelly Tunstall
Jamie Vasta

Also opening, Michele Carlson, Sam Lopes, Raoul Pacheco and I have a collaborative drawing show opening at PlaySpace gallery at CCA. All the work is brand new, mash-up style.

Crossover Stories
PlaySpace Gallery,
CCA, SF campus, 1111 8th St.
August 1–30
Reception: August 3, 6–9 p.m.

Crossover Stories features four artists using strategies of speculative fiction to trouble fixed notions of social space. Through the reconfiguration and collapse of seemingly stable relationships of identity and home, new possibilities and questions emerge.

The exhibit will include a mixture of individual and collaborative works and provide an opportunity to explore the intersections of their narratives, characters, and symbologies.

Featured artists: Michael Carlson, Sam Lopes, Raoul Pacheco, and Weston Teruya.

Oh, and if you couldn't make it to the Peripheries of Narrative show over at Patricia Sweetow Gallery, the show is down, but she has some back room selections on display for the month; including some work from Katie, Michele, Jamie and our wonderful mentor (and curator) Kim Anno. "Future Unlimited! (five too far)" is up and looks quite different framed.

7.13.06:

Fette of Fette's Flog/Aesthetic Los Angeles blog made a trip up here to the Bay to check out various exhibits and was nice enough to include a bit and pictures from the Peripheries of Narrative show. Her blog and art.blogging.la help me keep up with things down south while I'm living up here.

6.26.06:

Glen Helfand was kind enough to write up Peripheries of Narrative as his Critics' Pick for San Francisco over at ArtForum.com this month.

6.11.06:

Patricia's put up pics from the show on the Patricia Sweetow Gallery site here. (As a side note, not all the pieces on the page of mine are actually up on the walls, it also includes pieces she has in the back room.)

Thanks again to John over at Fecal Face who has been very supportive. He has some pics up from the First Thursday opening night at 49 Geary.

In other news: if you're in Honolulu anytime before August 6, check out the Alimatuan: The Emerging Artist as American Filipino show at The Contemporary Museum's main space in Makiki Heights. Lots of artists from the Bay represented. My favorites were Stephanie Syjuco's "Body Double (Platoon)" video and Michael Arcega's Conquistadork pieces and global map made of spam.

And last but not least, congratulations to my brother Wade and my new sister-in-law Kristi on their recent marriage.

5.16.06:

The CCA Grad show is up and looks great. If you haven't checked it out, things will be up until Saturday.

A special thanks to Fecal Face for the incredibly kind words and great pics of the downstairs section of the show.

Tiny Showcase was also kind enough to announce the show with a special shout out to Michele, Alika and I.

And in final grad show news, the online catalogue of the exhibition can be found here. My apologies that none of the pieces on that site are actually the same as the ones in the show. But of course they can be found here.

Artweek's current issue has a review of the Partially Told Stories show by Kristin Palm.

And in case there is any confusion, this site is now both nocturnalguerillatactics.com and westonteruya.com.

3.30.06:

Two upcoming shows!:

May 11th will be the crazy opening reception of the CCA Graduate exhibition--part of which will be the MFA show. Thursday, May 11, 6-9pm, CCA - San Francisco Campus, 1111 8th St. I believe the exhibit runs through the 20th.

June 1st-July 15th, I'll be in a group show, Peripheries of Narrative, at Patricia Sweetow Gallery. The wonderful Kim Anno curated a number of us who will have just wrapped up our MFAs from CCA. The other artists include: Michele Carlson, Katie Lewis, Jamie Vasta & Susan Chen. The opening reception will be during First Thursday action, June 1st, 5:30-7:30pm, 49 Geary, 4th Floor.

3.14.06:

The SF Bay Guardian just published a review of the Partially Told Stories show written by art critic Katie Kurtz. A copy can be found on their site here.
